A tradition of warm welcomes!

Firstly a welcome from me Liz Parry who, with her husband John, completed 20 years in the hospitality industry. In 2000, John having retired, bought Swan House and embarked on the considerable project of restoring it to its rightful beauty, without a thought of providing bed and breakfast. The electric was pre-1938 and the mains water and sewerage non existent so you can imagine it was quite a task! It had previously been the village shop and Post Office so everyone knew Swan House, but it hadn't been occupied for at least 30 years, so friends and villagers were curious to know what we had done to it after its long neglect. Dating from the 17th century, Swan House is a grade II listed home and retains all its character and intrigue with modern comfort. With each of the three double rooms being set on differing levels of the house, but with each having its own entrance, it is a unique and interesting house.

With John having completed the house he can now be found in the garage at the top of the garden on the never ending renovation and refurbishment of his new project, a 1934 Singer 9 Sport. This has been taken right down to the bone with the body being taken off and the wooden frame revealed. The engine has been professionally rebuilt….in Kent no less!

So the B & B became Liz's baby, as it was do something for herself or wear a number plate around her neck, the only way to compete with her rival in the garage. She takes great pains to provide the comfortable distinctive rooms and delicious breakfasts. A luxurious break in Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter will provide a variety of activities in the changing seasons, with the Herefordshire Walking Festival, RHS and Three Counties Shows, Food Festivals and Eastnor Castle just to suggest a few. Itineraries and walks can be planned.

We serve the very best of local produce including a variety of local apple juices from Just Juice, which are sourced from the immediate area; together with organic yoghurts. The eggs come from our own hens and are collected before breakfast. We can cater for special diets, especially gluten free. Although not imperative it would be helpful to give us just a little advanced notice to ensure a full selection.

Only 15 minutes from the motorway, yet quietly situated in the rural beauty of Herefordshire. The church bells and birds are the only sounds liable to awaken you in the morning and with no parking problems! Friends ask frequently what our guests find to do in the area but in the middle of the most beautiful of countryside where the tourism is discreet our guests fill their days by visiting Westons Cider and the other cider and perry, and wine producers, Berrington Hall and other N T properties and Hellens, the oldest inhabited house in England and of course Hereford Cathedral. There are gardens galore with Hampton Court, Broadfield Court, Stocktonbury and Bannut Tree Gardens and there are so many others too and loads more to do to. With the motorway and roads connections the Royal Forest of Dean, Brecon Beacons, Gloucester, Ludlow and Worcester are but a scenic drive away.

We are absolutely delighted that we were awarded Four Stars by the Heart of England Tourist Board but we are in a continual program of upgrading our facilities.

Please take a look around the website - I’d be happy to answer any queries, so please get in touch.
