The gardens fully deserve to be spoken of in the plural! Moving from the lawn and trees to one side of the drive - where you will also find the vegetable garden tucked away - a wall separates the drive from the more formal paved and tiered pond area. Behind the pond, a haven for wildlife surrounded by scented roses and scrambling clematis, there is another small lawn where you can gaze up at several hundred years' worth of yew tree. Passing the arch to the pond you will come instead to the upper courtyard and The Garden Room; if this is your room we hope you will enjoy the window boxes and outdoor seating on a warm summer evening. On the other side of the upper courtyard steep steps lead down to the lower level and The Courtyard Room; tubs and planters soften the stone walls and weathered paving. Through the gate from The Courtyard Room and along the front of the house a variety of flowering shrubs and climbers add colour against the soft white render and Georgian proportions of Swan House. You complete the circle by entering the driveway from the lane once more.
