The gardens

Restoring the gardens has been almost as great a challenge as the main house. John spent the summer manually creating levels, digging a pond and paving with bricks. He left the planting to Liz! He spends the autumns warring with the squirrels for the walnuts on the lawn!

It creates a pretty sitting area where the amazingly tame birds will come to you, attracted by the pond and the varied wildlife it attracts. The borders are planted with wildlife in mind and a rare visitor has been reported to the county bird recorder. Sit under the clematis covered arbour and take in the perfume of the garden. There is a separate lawn too for you to relax on and small courtyard, with a lion’s head wall fountain, where you can sit under cover, whatever the weather, with binoculars and bird or reading books.

A BBQ is available for your own use if you fancy a change from the local pubs and restaurants!
